Position Overview

Patriot Design & Consulting is seeking a licensed Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of electrical systems for public-sector, institutional, and government projects throughout New York State. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with clients while leading multidisciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering design for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, emergency power, and low-voltage systems.
• Prepare and review calculations, specifications, reports, and construction documents.
• Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, structural engineers, and outside consultants.
• Conduct field investigations, site visits, and existing-condition assessments.
• Support construction administration including submittal reviews, RFIs, and change orders.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, and applicable building codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• NYS Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain through reciprocity within six months.

The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary project teams to develop practical, code-compliant solutions from planning through construction.

Responsibilities

• Design fire sprinkler, standpipe, fire pump, and specialty fire suppression systems.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and fire protection system analyses.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical specifications, reports, and construction documents.
• Conduct code reviews and life safety evaluations.
• Coordinate fire protection system designs with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines.
• Conduct field investigations, site visits, and existing-condition assessments.
• Support construction administration activities including submittal reviews, RFIs, and field observations.
• Coordinate with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) and code officials as required.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with public-sector, municipal, educational, healthcare, or government facilities.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary building projects.
• Familiarity with BIM workflows and construction administration.
